Explore the Vizcaya Museum & Garden: A Hidden Miami Gem
If you are looking for a garden and flower experience like no other, then you must take a trip to the Vizcaya Museum & Garden located in Miami, FL.
On a short one day trip, I traveled just over 200 miles. I took my son to see what I can only describe as the most beautiful garden I’ve ever seen in person. After seeing a video on YouTube about the garden and other cool places to visit in Florida, I was sold. Yes, this was a LONG drive from Orlando but it was well worth it.
The garden is actually a historic landmark which was originally the estate of an industrialist named James Deering. There is an Italian Renaissance style villa that overlooks the Biscayne Bay. The villa has 34 rooms that are open to the public to explore, take pictures and learn about it’s history.
The museum is open year round except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and closed on Tuesdays. Admission is $25 for adults, $10 for children 6-12 years, and free under 5. Make sure to ask for your military discount if your active duty or a veteran.
For me this was a great experience to see my son interested in nature and history. He really enjoyed taking pictures of the massive sculptures, art collections, and flowers. You don’t need to be a huge nature lover either to appreciate this museum. The villa inside has so many artifacts, sculptures, and their is a cafe that includes a gift shop.
If you’re a Florida native like me, you’ll be surprised how many beautiful places there are in the state like this to explore.
Hopefully, you will add this gem to your list of places to check out on one of your next day trips!
